The Korea Labor Institute has announced an agenda for the Fifth Asian Regional Congress of the International Industrial Relations Association, scheduled in Seoul for 23-26 June 2004.

The Agenda consists of four tracks related to under general theme "Dynamics and Diversity: Employment Relations in the Asia-Pacific Region," including:

* Human-Resource Management;

* Human-Reource Development;

* Labor and Social Problems; and

* Industrial Relations in the Asia-Pacific Region.

The program should provide insights and perpsectives from both developing and developed countries.

The University System of Georgia's Americas Council stages an annual conference, so presenters and
participants may explore critical socio-cultural, political, economic,
global, regional, and national issues: These topics may include the challenges and opportunities facing Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada. The Council asks that scholars submit proposals
for individual papers and panels on specific topics.

CQRM Institute an Opportunity for Training in Qualitative Methods January 4, 2004, 8:00 am January 17, 2004, 6:00 pm
The Consortium on Qualitative Research Methods (CQRM) announces its third annual training institute in qualitative methods for graduate students and junior faculty.

Topics include research design, concept formation, methods of structured and focused comparisons of cases, typological theory, case selection, process tracing, comparative historical analysis, congruence testing, path dependency, interpretivism, counterfactual analysis, interview and field research -- including archival techniques -- necessary and sufficient conditions, fuzzy-set methods, and philosophy-of-science issues relevant to
qualitative research.

Proposals Sought for Travel Grants to January 2004 Berlin Conference on Transnational Risks January 2, 2004, 12:00 am January 10, 2004, 11:45 pm
On 2-10 January 2004, the Irmgard Coninx Foundation, the Social Science Research Center in Berlin, and Humboldt University will convene the first of a series of conferences and workshops on transnational phenomena. The first of these events will focus on the theme "Transnational Risks -- The
Responsibility of Social Sciences and the Media." Scholars and journalists selected by organizers to participate will have costs of travel and accommodation for the conference.
